back from the trip to the snowed land

first of all, somethings that you must always know about [at least while visiting himachal]:-

1. differentiate between himachal tourism and himachal road transport bus service. they look no different from each other [as none have any uniqueness to themselves] and taxi/auto drivers might drop you on the other's respective terminal just to make money [or out of ignorance].

2. do not rent a swimsuit in advance if you do not want to roam around hiding just your groin when you haven't seen the sea [it could be the dry crater which 'used to be' a sea in neolithic ages]; same goes for skiing, if you do not have a report on snow condition, do not hire skiing material and instructor [who will instruct you more on how to ski than the exercise itself because there is no snow to ski upon].

3. central heating and hot water should be your priority when you are honeymooning to a place where the night temperatures are consistently below zero [no point in dying of pneumonia after honeymoon].

now, the trip:-

volvo was comfortable but not flawless. some sections after manali were truly nice. green waters of beas river flowing along the road were awesome. it wasn't no more than a stream but very beautiful. somehow the size of boulders impress me a lot. and i start thinking how horrific would it look when they are falling from above. although it must be ages since they must have fallen but the scare remains.

there isn't much to do in manali except for not so huge mall. i loved the stroll in the reserved nature park running parallel to the mall more. with huge deodars, the walk lends you peace. eating places in there are wanting. and i haven't eaten better paranthas anywhere other than shimla. i don't know what is it with people making tandoori paranthas. you have to eat tawa paranthas in the breakfast. tandoori ones never impress me as much. the crowed sucked - both in quality and quantity.

there is this chinese restaurant called chopsticks in manali. i don't like chinese - but i guess that is on account of lack of really good chinese joints [cooks]. this one was one of those i really liked. the ambiance was great - a lot like j j cafe in mcleodganj, just triple in size. this is one thing i would recommend everybody should try. also, the tomato cream soup in the gozy restaurant, some 50 paces apart from chopsticks is extra sour but good.

i have transfered the pics, but i don't know how soon would i upload them. hopefully soon.

there is something a lot beautiful about falling snow. i don't know if it is the colour white, or the slowness of pace at which the snow falls or the way flakes dance as if enjoying their own purity.

a trip to the snowed land

i wanted to write. i had something in mind when i turned the ignition of my car on in the morning which is lingering somewhere on the periphery of my thoughts but now i want to write about something that has taken up my thought process. and that is the trip to manali. with approaching moment of departure it is getting all the more sure that i will finally be going. manu & company has traditionally known to be the prime source of this uncertainity :)

anyways, one thing is am looking forward to is the snow. it hasn't still been as cold as it is in this time of the year [month, season] but it is kind of getting better. it was heavy fog hanging over the brown patch of boundried land that they call park [but unruly cricket playing kids are bent of shaping it otherwise] facing my home, in the morning when i woke up. the last and the only time i saw snow was in the last week of 1997 in shimla. it was an amazing trip. a whole essay could easily be dedicated to its narration. i did write an article for the college magazine too.

in honour of them women

i don't really know why do i feel an urge to write this kind of post but i do so i do

females, i have written about them so many times that i have lost count. i have written all the derogatory things and some filth too but then it just indicated how much importance i attribute to them. some might laugh at my disposition and maybe their stance is correct too but then they should realise that it isn't all that wrong.

females:-

you cry for them
you long for them
you desire them
you look out for comfort with them

you are incomplete without them...

i won't write more out of the fear that this might transform into a sad post.

fixation number 1

i don't understand why indians are so colour-fixated. By colour fixation i mean, why is it that we feel attracted towards or feel a sense of superiority whenever there is non-lighter colour involved. why are block coloured cars not welcome in some households? why do fairness ointments such rage? why do fair females get more attention [why do they hog the attention more even if the physical characterstics that comprise to make a face are crap]? why do white foreigners favoured? why do guys want to lay white [and whiter] females?

in the while when you figure that out, let me give you the sneak preview of another fixation post that is up next - the boob fixation :D

(c) Google page ranking and popularity

Have you ever thought above how Google Page ranking works? How do you get your page when your search for it in Google? Since its beginning, it has become a very complex procedure. There are a huge lot of variables and parameters that are quantified before Google rates and lists the pages on their list.

One of the most important thing is quantifying the popularity of a web page in Google search is the relevancy of the text on the page. After that it is very important that how popular is it on the internet. How many links are pointing to it. And not just links, how many relevant links are pointing to the page. Google has just come up with a new algorithm that they have named LSI [Latent Symantec Indexing] which determined how much are the words on a page related to each other. This helps in combing those wasteful pages which have random words residing on them.

But link popularity still remains one of the most important criteria in determining the importance of a Google page rank today.
