a different why

i am reading 'lazza' by tasleema nasrin these days. i am pretty horrified by the way people there were. i mean after going through the first three chapters, i felt that muslims are very cruel and unjustified and senseless lot. it seems that they either killed or beat up all the hindu men, raped almost all the females (including kids), looted all the businesses and torched all the houses in bangladesh. i thought that if they razed almost all the temples and religious hindu establishments throughout bangladesh they have to be nothing less than a lot of fiends. but with all my prejudice with-holding i can't help thinking that it was a reaction to babri masjid demolition after all, but then wasn't babri masjid itself built on a destroyed temple or for that matter, weren't most of temples saw the same fate in the mughal reign of India. or why were the buddha stone statues destroyed in afghanistan? but it is not a educated sounding counter argument by me, is it? but then another question echoes in my head; would there be the same reaction in India if a hindu temple is destroyed any where in the world? i guess not. but there might be people who think otherwise. and i think it is just a small section of the whole community which really reflects a bad shadow. and unfortunately this section is not small in muslims. i am really in a kind of indecisive situation where i am not able to decide whom do i call what.

but then i hear muslims in europe are different from how they are here, i mean in Indian sub-continent. subhash got a pakistani friend in london and he calls him his closest there.

and then i look at some blogs of pakistanis - these people don't seem to be any different than us. i mean the guys are as sane and girls are as cool then why is there such a huge section of them which defies the decorum of a civilization.

1 Comments:

  • i dont kno how different any sect can be when outside ones own country but i is true and what i have noticed is when outside the country even hindus and muslims become quite close because the factor of being an asian ya neighbouring countyman comes into context ,u feel u see a familiar face amongst a sea of foreigners and probably that makes some difference,by the way here in paris atleast all the muslims do not reveal they are muslims but open restuants uder the banner of 'indian resturant' ...probably post 9/11and very recent london blasts etc. even the innocent brazilain killed was said to have looked like a 'pakistani ' guy running by the eyewitnesses, even though he was far from even remotely looking pakistani..
    anyways .
